Today was a Cleaning day.
The sister and us, eight volunteers, were cleaning the classrooms from head to toe. A lot of dust and a lot of life stories from Sophie. She is amazingly pretty, compassionate, caring, energetic and funny woman. Several hours of cleaning passed like a minute.
I brought a couple of magic tricks to this trip, knowing from myself, my kids and my clients that everyone, especially kids, loves magic. I used magic dice to engage a student N. who was ready to sit next to me for hours and learn how to turn one large dice into eight small dices. Usually overstimulated and spaced out, she was hyper-focused and calm when learning the trick.
Several volunteers including myself went to Pizza Hut for a lunch, trying to bring a variety to the low-protein lunch we receive each morning in a box. When returned to the orphanage, we discovered that the gate is locked and the guard is not there to open it. After waiting several minutes, I decided to hop over the gate, asking Haley to keep my phone safe. The girls were encouraging me during my mini-journey by taking this cool selfie and hinting that I can use it as a new wallpaper 🙂
